Alcoholism Recovery Stories
My name is Kelly and I am an alcoholic. I have been in and out of a number of treatment centers over the past couple of years. I finally found one that is working.
With the groups and individual counseling they have helped me to deal with the feelings that caused me to drink. I am now convinced that alcohol is not a solution. I have also been able to get in touch with my higher power and the AA program for daily guidance. I have had the opportunity to practice the tools of recovery in daily life.
I have been here about six months and will be returning home to my husband and daughter soon. While I was here they were able to visit and participate in treatment with me. This is a disease that effects the entire family and Treatment Solutions understands that and is helping us to work things out.

I am a 52 year old alcoholic that only started trying to do anything about it two and a half years ago. Before arriving at Treatment Solutions of South Florida I had been in three rehab programs and twenty one detoxes. I just couldn't stop. I enrolled in a highly regarded intensive outpatient program in New Jersey but continued to drink. My therapist there, who had taken an interest in me, pulled me aside and told me I needed more help than they could provide. She recommended Treatment Solutions of South Florida. She assured me that this would be the ideal program for me.
My first day at Treatment Solutions of South Florida let me know she was right. Gone were the auditoriums with the blackboards and notepads. I found myself in a small intimate group with a knowledgeable therapist. I got to know myself and my fellows and began to learn not why I shouldn't drink but rather why I drank. I have learned things about myself that I never knew. I have learned about identities and control and how to internalize a new idenity as a recovering person.
I am 59 days sober today and I feel well. I never made it past 30 days before. I believe Treatment Solutions of South Florida has put me on a road to a happy sober future. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants recovery.

Dear Gus
Your have definitely influenced my life. With your guidance, Jon has found a peace that’s based on faith and hope.
Though I struggle daily to find my belief system, it’s inspiring to see Jon feel strong and comforted from his experience with you.
I must say though that you are most forceful and direct. It is obviously a good thing but scary none the less, you can criticize me for calling you and having my daughter call you before sending Jon to TSSF. My trust was zero at that point and I felt alone. Hunting Jon to get help and be safe was overwhelming me, I had only a few hours to decide his care and the voice of a stranger, a thousand miles away, was not reassuring to me.
However, I did trust my daughter and eventually I put all my trust into you. I don’t begin to understand how God works but I am in awe when I look at Jon now compared to the bleeding, broken man of two month ago.
It was painful to hear you tell me the unrealistic expectations I have put onto Jon. I see my part in his suffering and I feel tremendous guilt and sadness.
Jon is working very hard to keep his sobriety. He recalls his experience at “Treatment Solutions” with great reverence and genuine warmth.
My 3 days spent with all of you touched the deepest part of my soul. I am forever changed to watch people heal and help others like them to heal, was a beautiful gift. It lightened my heart and helped me believe that just maybe God does hear our desperate pleas for help.
I hope you will always have the desire and enthusiasm to continue to reach out and offer hope.
Then I pray, I thank God for placing us in your hands. Thank you for being our miracle.
Sincerely, Judy Browming
Substance Abuse Recovery Stories
My name is Danny K. I started using substances at age 12. I have overdosed many times and should be dead by now. During the course of my addiction I contracted HIV and Hepatitis C.
In 1984 I went to rehab and got clean and remained clean for 12 years until I went to the hospital for surgery the pain medication woke up my disease and eventually I was on the methadone program. The next six years were hell I lost my self-respect, my family and eventually my soul. I went to the best hospitals in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia where I was told that because of my physical condition, my body would not make it through another detox.
I made one last effort to find a place to get clean. I thank God I found Treatment Solutions of South Florida. With care and genuine respect, they nurtured me through a very long detox process. I am now at peace with myself, my family and my God.
Not only did Treatment Solutions of South Florida help me get clean; they also helped my wife get clean. Today my wife and I reside in a halfway housem and my sons and I are working on our relationships. Now I follow the suggestions of the professionals here and it is working. I am coming up on six months clean.
When I came to Treatment Solutions of South Florida, my only goal was to get clean so that I could die clean. Today I am living life to its fullest one day at a time. I thank God and Treatment Solutions of South Florida today I am alive.
